The sweetest bird in Edinburgh
Here is a picture story that didn't quite make it into the mag recently but it's a tasty one and I thought you might want to know about it.
It all began when a pigeon flew into an Edinburgh sweet shop's chocolate fountain. Scottish SPCA ambulance driver Fiona Thorburn was called in to assist the little bird, nicknamed Wonka, as it could no longer fly due to the hardening of chocolate on its feathers.
Fiona took the call on her first day in the job and thought it was a wind up. She said: "I got the call just after lunchtime on the Saturday to say there was a chocolate coated pigeon walking around Edinburgh and I just thought this is some of my colleagues playing a trick on me."
Wildlife Rescue Centre assistant manager Colin Liddle said: "The chocolate was coated on its wings and right down its back. Because is was in a fountain the chocolate was softer but by the time it came to us it had started to set.
"We've had diesel spills, we've had oil spills, but never before have we had a chocolate coated pigeon!"
Wonka was treated quickly and made a full recovery before being released back into the wild. His exact whereabouts are now unkown but experts say he could could be anywhere in the Galaxy, or Cadbury's, or Yorkie...
